Everybody has their own comfort with using different products during their periods. Some use pads, some use tampons and others use menstrual cups.

WHAT ARE MENSTRUAL CUPS?

Menstrual cup is a flexible funnel cup made of silicon, latex rubber or elastomer . It is a product used by females during their menstruation. It comes in different colours, sizes depending on your choice and the amount of flow during your time of the month.

HOW DOES MENSTRUAL CUP WORK?

Menstrual cup is a flexible and easy to use product during menstruation. It is inserted inside the vagina and it holds all the period blood inside the cup. When you insert the menstrual cup inside your vagina just use a lubricant to make the surface slippery so that it will be easy to insert the cup as it will slide in because of the lubricant and neither you or your skin will get hurt. Also by the time you derive your cup do the same thing as told above as it will make the process easy. And remember to wash your hands during both the time so no bacteria from our hands will enter your vagina through menstrual cup.

Many women prefers a menstrual cup over tampons and pads because it is eco-friendly as it it can be used again and again. One menstrual cup can be used more than 10 years hence it is pocket friendly too. After once using it you have to boil it or keep it in warm/hot water inorder to kill the bacteria in it.

PROS :

Using menstrual cups decreases the risk to leakage as it blocks the vagina hence no blood can be leaked.

Unlike tampons, it is so comfortable that if you insert it properly you don’t even feel it and theirs no feeling like you have any product inserted inside your body.

You can easily do all the activities even after having your menstrual cup and it can hold up to 6–7 hours of your menstruated blood but you have to clean it twice or maximum thrice a day that means you can sleep having your menstrual cup without any fear of leakage.

CONS :

If you don’t insert it properly it can sometimes hurt your vagina internally or by the time you try to take it out it may get stucked inside.

If you don’t know the correct way to insert the menstrual cup if you are a beginner it may hurt you and you’ll get freaked out.

Also when you insert the cup and if you feel uncomfortable that means you haven;t fixed the cup properly which may also lead to leakage.

When you remove it, the blood may not get directly into the pot, hence result to have the floor messy with the menstrual blood which is gross.

Not having your perfect size is a big con. If your flow is heavy and you have small size then leakage can happen also it will be a waste of money.
